Introduction
The auto focus feature on cameras has been a truly innovative and convenient tool for photography. It has enabled photographers to effectively blur out peripheral objects and have the most important object(s) singled out via relative clarity. And importantly, it is all possible at the touch of a button. On most cameras today you simply hold down the shutter button half way while the camera's lens adjusts itself accordingly. So in those few magical seconds, what is the camera doing, and why is the lens moving back and forth like it does?
